LEGAZPI CITY – The local government unit (LGU) of Camalig, Albay on Wednesday allowed a public elementary in Barangay Panoypoy to welcome back pupils to their face-to-face (F2F) classes.
The decision was reached after the LGU conducted an area assessment of the Panoypoy Elementary School in preparation for its reopening.
Camalig Mayor Caloy Irwin Balbo, in a social media post, said the activity was carried out to ensure the readiness of the institution for the pilot of the F2F on-site learning.
“Upon the assessment conducted by the members of the Municipal and Barangay Composite Teams, Panoypoy Elementary School is now fit to accommodate school staff and learners provided the school shall continue to practice proper sanitation, solid waste management and observe the minimum health standards set by the Department of Health (DOH) regularly,” the post read.
Personnel from the Municipal Health Office (MHO), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), Philippine National Police (PNP), and other local officials visited the school to conduct interventions focused on the health and safety of pupils and the area’s peace and order.
Baldo said the school is also expected to facilitate regular sanitation operations and include health declaration sheets in coordination with the Municipal Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit to maximize contact tracing at the school and grassroots level.
Camalig town remains under Alert Level 2 based on the latest advisory of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. (With reports from Eliakim Neric/PNA-OJT)
