29 drug suspects nabbed, P1.3-M illegal drugs seized in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) arrested 29 individuals and seized more than PHP1.3 million illegal drugs in a weeklong anti-illegal drug operation on May 19 to 25.

In a report on Monday, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said the arrests were the result of 26 operations that resulted in the confiscation of a total of 193.47 grams of shabu and 50.10 grams of marijuana.

“The estimated street value of the confiscated illegal drugs amounted to PHP1.32 million,” the report read.

In Albay, 10 suspects were apprehended and PHP522,580 illegal drugs were seized. In Camarines Norte, eight individuals with PHP67,048 worth of drugs were arrested. In Camarines Sur, five individuals and with PHP18,780 drugs were nabbed.

Five more suspects were accosted in separate operations that led to the confiscation of PHP373,200 worth of illegal substances in Naga City. In Masbate, a suspect was arrested in possession of illegal drugs valued at PHP340,000.

Dizon said the sustained operations were part of a region-wide effort to eliminate drug-related crimes and dismantle drug networks.

The Bicol police will continue to work closely with local government units and community stakeholders to strengthen information gathering and ensure swift action against individuals and groups involved in the drug trade, the report added. (PNA)
