PBBM ORDERS GOV’T AGENCIES TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF SOCIAL BENEFITS FOR AFP, UNIFORMED PERSONNEL; HONORS FALLEN POLICE, MILITARY MEMBERS

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed concerned government agencies on Friday to ensure the effective implementation of the Comprehensive Social Benefits Program (CSBP), as he recognized the contributions of the members of the military and the police who died or were wounded while performing their duties.

“Ang mga tulong medikal, pinansiyal, pang-edukasyon, trabaho, pabahay, at iba pang mga social welfare assistance na kalakip ng CSBP ay nararapat lamang para sa inyo — sa mga pamilyang naulila ng mga magigiting nating kawal sa gitna ng labanan. Taos-pusong pakikiramay po sa mga pamilya na naiwan nila ,” President Marcos said during the assembly and thanksgiving event with the beneficiaries of the CSBP at the Dusit Thani Residence Hotel, Davao City.

“Kung kaya naman, inaatasan ko ang mga kinauukulang ahensya na tiyakin ang maayos na implementasyon ng mga ito. Siguruhin ninyo na ang mga benepisyo ay mabilis na makakarating sa ating mga mamamayan. Sa pagsulong ng Bagong Pilipinas, lahat ng mga Pilipino ay uunlad at magiging katuwang sa transpormasyon na ito,” he added.

During the event dubbed “PBBM: Pagpupugay Para sa Mga Bayani ng Bansang Makabayan,” the President gave his assurance that his administration will continue to provide support to the members of the military and police so that they can do their duties more effectively.

Among those distributed to killed or wounded military and uniformed personnel and their beneficiaries are special financial assistance, social welfare assistance, shelter assistance, health and medical care assistance, educational assistance, and employment assistance.

The President has visited Davao City twice since he assumed office on June 30 last year.

On July 1 this year, he led the Inauguration of the Davao City Bypass Coastal Road, the ceremonial signing of the Loan Agreement for the Davao Public Transport Modernization Project, and visited the wake of the late Davao Oriental Gov. Corazon Malanyaon.

On October 27, 2022, he led the groundbreaking of the Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project and visited the Eastern Mindanao Command.

Established in November 2016 to provide assistance to fallen Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel and their beneficiaries, CSBP was later institutionalized on April 7, 2020, through Executive Order No. 110.

The program covers military and police personnel who were killed or wounded in legitimate action or operation and their qualified beneficiaries, and uniformed personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), members of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU), and CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) Units of the AFP.

From 2016 to the present, the government has provided PhP777.20 million worth of financial and shelter assistance to the beneficiaries of uniformed personnel who were killed in action or operation.

Also present were Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Z. Duterte, Special Assistant to the President Secretary Antonio Lagdameo Jr., Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. and Communications Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil. |PND
