The Philippines has logged 102,619 dengue cases from January 1 to July 30 this year. The figure is 131% higher than the number in the same period in 2021.
In a Viber message to reporters, the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, the Department of Health (DOH) noted that cases for the same period last year totaled 44,361.
A total of 368 deaths from dengue have been reported nationwide — 35 in January; 31 in February; 38 in March; 46 in April; 64 in May; 74 in June; and 80 in July.
Most of the cases were reported in Central Luzon with 18,664 or 18%; the National Capital Region (NCR), 2,689 or 11%; and Region 4-A (Calabarzon), 2,369 or 10%.
From July 3 to 30 this year, 23,414 cases were recorded. Of the tally, 5,838 or 25% were from Central Luzon; 2,689 or 11% from NCR; and 2,369 or 10% from Calabarzon. Nine of the 17 regions have exceeded the epidemic threshold in the past four weeks.
