Incumbent Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna makes history and goes on record as the very first Woman Mayor of Manila. She was proclaimed as such last Wednesday.
In a statement issued to media reporters, Lacuna expressed her gratitude to Manileños for the overwhelming support and honor given her. “I am humbled by the trust, support and love from my fellow Manileños for this new mandate you have given me and for the honor of becoming the first woman to become the mayor of our beloved city),” she said.
Lacuna who ran under the Asenso Manilenyo Movement got a total of 538,595 votes, followed by Alex Lopez of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) with 166,908 votes.
Her running mate Yul Servo Nieto also won the race for Vice Mayor with a total of 586,855 votes, besting Raymond Bagatsing of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) who got 185,431 votes.
Lacuna, whose family hails from Penaranda town in Nueva Ecija, called on all Manilenyos to unite and work together with her to help “make the lives of every Manileño family orderly, effective, prosperous and peaceful).”
